Last week Shanay typed "Christian Mother's Day Cards" into Google and saw the following quote:
"God can't be everywhere so he made mothers"
There's only one problem, this "cute" saying isn't true.
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? [8] If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! [9] If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, [10] even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. (Psalm 139:7-10 ESV)
In the Scripture above, the Psalmist exclaims "where can I go from your Spirit?". He recognizes that the true and living God is not limited by space. God is everywhere and He did not make mothers so that they could fill a void that he could not fill, “for from him and through him and to him are all things” (Romans 11:36 ESV). God made mothers because he wanted to display his glory by making mankind male and female, interdependent, complementary, uniquely gifted to reflect Him. What a glorious reality! God finished off his creative work by making Woman to complete Man, so celebrate your mothers, but don't pretend that God is limited without them. He is God your mom is not.
