He who Satisfies 8/25/26
Dear Brothers & Sisters,
The psalmist contrasts those "whose portion is in this life" (Ps. 17:14) with his portion and delight "as for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake I shall be satisfied with your likeness" (Psalm 17:15).
Question: What satisfies you in the morning? What gives you joy throughout your days? Is it the temporary pleasures of this world or to behold the eternal God, to be near Him? Be honest. Pretending and good intentions don't equal true devotion to God. Too often we enjoy the gifts and spurn the giver and value the temporary over the eternal. But it does not have to be so, seek the Lord today. Meditate on the words of Psalm 17 and the memory verse for this month (Psalm 27:8). Rejoice in this, through Christ we are adopted as sons of the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth. Are you far from God today? Return, for he has said "whoever comes to me I will never cast out" (John 6:37)
A prayer for the Satisfaction of our Souls:
Teach us Lord, to delight in Your presence, Satisfy us in the morning with your love, so that we may seek to see and savor You in all of Your beauty, Amen.
In Christ's Service,
Matt
