Dear Brothers & Sisters,
The Lord hates "feet swift to run to evil" (Proverbs 6:18 ESV, see also Isaiah 59:7)
This phrase is a reminder that sin affects every part of us. A heart that plans evil (see the first part of Proverbs 6:18) will soon put feet to the ground and run.
Feet were made for running, they were meant to take us places. The question is, what direction are our feet taking us? Are we headed towards evil or towards good? Where are you going?
The Feet God loves
Do you know what feet God loves? He loves the feet that bring the good news.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”(Isaiah 52:7)
They're probably not pretty by human standards. Feet that have traveled long on mountain roads are dirty and calloused. What makes them beautiful is the purpose for which they run! The proclamation of the Kingdom of God is the great pursuit of the redeemed. There is no greater joy, in view of God's mercies, than to declare the salvation of God and his everlasting dominion, then to delight to be a display of his grace. The King's Hall is open, the invitation goes out to all the world "Come and welcome". Is this why you run? I pray it is so, for the world is passing away and all that men run after will soon perish with them.
May God grant us swift and sure feet to run with all our might for the glory of His name and the everlasting good of all nations by the blood of His Eternal Son who ran unflinchingly for our salvation, even unto death, and is now exalted in the Highest Place, Amen.
Running with you in Christ's Service,
Matt
